Commitment ceremony

A non-religious ceremony for couples who wish to make a public commitment to each other.

A commitment ceremony is a formal way for couples who cannot or choose not to marry or form a civil partnership. Unlike marriage or a civil partnership, this ceremony has no legal status.

To hold a ceremony in the Ceremony Room or at approved premises in Torbay you must book with us.

Make sure the approved venue is available before booking your ceremony.

Fees

There is a charge if you want to hold a celebration ceremony in Torbay. To see the amount you will need to pay, check the celebration ceremony fees page.

We take a £90 deposit so make sure you have your credit or debit card to hand when you book.

The ceremony

Your ceremony is unique to you and usually lasts between 15 and 30 minutes. It can be formal or informal and include readings, poetry, music and people that are special to you.

You will receive a commemorative certificate to mark the occasion.
