Statement regarding the withdrawal of school buses
Brixham College recently told parents that they will withdraw the college's school bus service. Brixham College made this decision and did not involve us. We understand that many young people, parents and carers will be anxious about how children will travel to school.
This has led to a review of Stagecoach’s resources and the viability of operating other school services in Torbay. As a result, Services 28, 30 and 32 connecting to St Cuthbert Mayne and the Torquay Grammar Schools have also been cancelled.
All of these changes will happen at the end of this school year with alternative arrangements needing to be considered for September. We are working to review any possible mitigations across the public Torbay bus network and will update as soon as possible.”
We want to direct parents to our school transport pages. These pages explain eligibility criteria and application information. Please review them to find out if your child can get support.
We know this is a challenging time for many families. However, we apply statutory eligibility criteria strictly when it considering applications. This makes sure that we treat all young people across Torbay fairly.
Due to the number of enquiries, we are unfortunately cannot discuss individual circumstances by phone. Please review the information available on the school transport pages carefully before applying for school transport for September 2026/27.
