How to apply for apply for a place in Year 10 at a 14+ school in Torbay.

Studio schools and university technical colleges are new types of schools for 14 to 19 year olds which offer practical learning combined with academic study.

If you have a child due to move into year 10 in September you can apply for a place at 14+ schools instead of staying at their current school.

There are two schools in Torbay and South Devon area  offering this type of place:

South Devon High School

Based at South Devon College, the high school offers a broad Key Stage 4 curriculum of 9 GCSEs including English, Maths, Science and a wide choice of other GCSE options and technical pathways. The age range is 14 to 16.

Applications

Applicants will be required to complete a cognitive abilities assessment. Priority for available places will be given to pupils with the highest overall scores in the assessment.

South Devon University Technical College

A specialist College concentrating on Science and Engineering with a focus on working in these specific industries. The college welcomes new applications for students to start in year 10. You will need to apply directly to them. The UTC is for students aged 14 to 19.

The school is non-selective and will give all students a place if there are spaces.
