We co-ordinate planned street works to avoid conflict of major schemes and works using traffic control. The needs of the public are paramount in the decision as to timings of works, we know how frustrating it is to be caught in a traffic jam but it must be remembered that the public also benefit from investment in underground apparatus and road resurfacing.

The timings of some works are outside the control of the council where they are to put an end to an emergency for example.

We licence people and contractors to work on the highway and ensure that those that do, are working safely and in accordance with legislation.
