Motorcycle parking

Find out where you can park motorcycles in Torbay.

Please be aware that Harbour car park, Torquay, is currently closed.

A recent inspection has identified defects in a small number of supporting beams in the car park structure. This means the multi storey section of the car park isn’t safe for pedestrians or cars until essential repairs can be carried out. This has required us to close both upper and lower parking levels. Parking for Premier Inn customers is unaffected by the closure.

Please be assured that the decision to close the car park was not taken lightly. We are aware that the closure will cause disruption for local businesses, residents and visitors alike. We are working hard to reopen the car park as soon as possible.

The closure includes both Montpellier Road and Museum Road entrances.

During the closure, you are advised to park in alternative local car parks at Meadfoot Road and Beacon Quay. Fleet Walk pay on exit car park and the Torquay Marina car park are also available.

Permits for Harbour car park can be used at Meadfoot Road and Beacon Quay car parks.

We appreciate your patience whilst the essential repairs are carried out. Further updates will be provided as new information becomes available.

Parking for motorcycles is free in car parks run by Torbay Council, provided your motorcycle is parked wholly within a designated motorcycle only parking area, and not within a standard pay and display bay. If a motorcycle is parked within a standard parking bay, then either a pay and display ticket must be purchased and displayed, or a valid RingGo parking session in operation for the duration of the vehicle's stay.

Time limits apply for motorcycles in short stay car parks, as with any other user.

On street parking

Where dedicated motorcycle parking bays are provided on street which are marked on the road and signed with the motorcycle symbol, parking is free for all motorcycles.

Otherwise motorcycles parked outside of these areas must follow the same terms and conditions as other motor vehicles and park in a marked pay and display bay and the rider must purchase a ticket for the duration of the stay. Tickets should be affixed to the motorcycle using a secure ticket holder available from any good motorcycle accessory store, or alternatively the rider should take the ticket with them and will be required to produce the ticket if a Penalty Charge Notice is issued to the motorcycle.
