Armed Forces Covenant

Find out about our promise of support to local servicemen and women, veterans and their families.

Armed Forces Covenant - ER silver

In March 2023 Torbay Council re-signed the Armed Forces Covenant, reconfirming our commitment to our Armed Forces Community.  The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise by the nation to ensure that those who serve or who have served in the armed forces, and their families, are treated appropriately and are not disadvantaged in the provision of public and commercial services compared to any other citizen.

The Armed Forces Covenant Duty places a legal obligation on certain public bodies to pay due regard to the Covenant principles when exercising certain functions.  The principles and our commitment to uphold them is set out in our signed Armed Forces Covenant.

Torbay Council is also part of the Devon Armed Forces Community Wellbeing Partnership.  The Partnership includes a wide range of organisations that collaborate to meet the aims of the Covenant across Devon.

We are proud to have received the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Silver Award in October this year (2025).
