Latest update - Wednesday 10 December 2025

Torbay Council were advised that the Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust (TCCT) would formally enter liquidation this week (the week commencing Monday 8 December 2025). We have now taken possession of the land and buildings that were leased to the Trust on Wednesday 10 December 2025.

It follows the announcement in October that the Trustees of TCCT had made the decision to place the company into voluntary liquidation.

Now that notice of formal liquidation has been received, the council has reached an agreement with appointed liquidators, PKF Francis Clark, to take back, and resume management of all the land and buildings owned by the council and previously leased by the Trust.

This agreement is a vital step in securing the long-term future of these cherished spaces, ensuring they remain well cared for and protected for residents and visitors to enjoy.

We are now preparing to assume responsibility for these areas, along with SWISCo, who will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the green spaces and ensuring that we continue the good work undertaken by the Trust.

Next steps and timelines

As of today (Wednesday 10 December) we have taken back and are resuming management of these spaces and buildings.

We would like to assure you that we are working closely, partners and stakeholders as we manage this transition process, recognising the importance of these green spaces to our communities.

More information and updates will become available as we work through all the various operations undertaken by the Trust and we will share them as soon as we are able to. We will keep the questions page updated where we will share further information as it becomes available.
