The former Brampton Court Hotel is being converted into new homes to help meet local housing needs.
Work is well under way to convert the former Brampton Court Hotel into new homes for local people.
This is the first scheme in our pioneering Hotels to Homes programme.
Our contractor, Armada Property UK, is turning the former Brampton Court Hotel on St Luke’s Road South, Torquay, into homes for social rent.
The 14-modern, energy efficient and sustainable homes of one and two bedrooms are due to be ready for local households to move into in November.
Hotels to Homes is designed to increase the delivery of social housing by re-purposing small, prominent and under-used brownfield sites in the Bay.
We have led the way on creating and implementing the scheme, believed to be the first of its kind in England to specifically convert former hotel accommodation for this purpose.
The innovative project will help to prove that such sites have an important role to play in meeting local need, as well as contributing to the regeneration of Torbay.
Pupils at Shiphay Academy wore high-vis vests and hard hats for a tour of the site.
During their visit hosted by Build Torbay and Armada Property UK, the youngsters learned how and why we are delivering high quality sustainable homes for local people in the Bay.
After the tour, the group decorated bug boxes for the gardens to encourage local wildlife.
The visit was part of the work by Build Torbay to promote construction skills, support the sector, deliver community impact and inspire the next generation.
