At a glance
- The way people access services was reviewed and improved, helping people get support more quickly and easily.
- Access to community support was strengthened, helping people find local services that promote independence and wellbeing.
- Work has begun on creating a Universal Front Door, a single point of access designed to make it easier for people to find the right information, advice and support.
People have told us they want clear information and to be directed to the right support first time. During 2025/26, we improved how people access Adult Social Care by reviewing referral processes, working closely with partners and strengthening links with community and voluntary sector organisations. These changes have helped more people access support earlier and reduced the need for formal assessments where alternative support is available.
- We introduced a new Front Door model that has reduced unnecessary hand-offs between teams, improved continuity and helped resolve concerns more quickly. We also improved access to information, advice and support through the Torbay Communities Helpline and strengthened our focus on helping people build on their own strengths, relationships and community connections.
- We are continuing this work through the development of a Universal Front Door, which will provide a simpler and more consistent way for people to access advice, information, support and care. This includes improving access across telephone, digital and community services, making information easier to find and reducing barriers to support.
- Future work will focus on improving accessibility, enhancing digital services and making it easier for people to find the right support when they need it.
What does this mean for you?
We want it to be easier to find help, advice and information without being passed between multiple services. Our aim is to provide quicker access to support, reduce unnecessary delays and help people get the right support at the right time.
