During your assessment, you have the right to have someone with you who knows you well. This could be a carer or a family member. They can help you to share your thoughts and needs with the person completing your assessment. If you can’t bring a carer or a family member, you can access an independent advocate. They can sit in assessments and help you understand your rights and make sure you are listened to. Advocates do not work for the Council or the NHS.
You can ask us for support and advice to arrange care for you if you have eligible needs. For example, if you need care at home. Our Finance Team will assess your situation. If you have savings above a certain amount, you are likely to pay the full cost for care. Find out about paying for care at home.
You can arrange deferred payment only for care home placements and only if you own a property. For more information, please visit Age UK.
Do you have concerns, complaints or questions about your care? The Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) offers advice and support.
You can also give feedback on your health and social care services. View the Easy Read version on how to give feedback.
