Your bus pass gives you free off-peak travel on registered local busses across Torbay, Devon and anywhere in the rest of England.  

You can generally use your bus pass on bus services which:

  • run according to a published timetable and
  • be open to the general public.

When using your bus pass outside Torbay or Devon (excluding Plymouth) please check for local differences in rules before travelling.

Free bus travel in Torbay and Devon is available:

  • Monday to Friday: from 9.30 am to end of service
  • Saturday, Sunday and bank holidays: all day

Free bus travel outside of Torbay and Devon  is available:

  • Monday to Friday: usually from 9.30am to 11pm
  • Saturday, Sunday and bank holidays: all day

Your bus pass does not include:

  • car parking charges at Park and Ride sites
  • long-distance coaches
  • coach excursions and holiday tours
  • rail-replacement buses
  • Ring and Ride, taxis, private hire cars and Fare Cars
  • Services operated as ‘sight-seeing tours’ which offer:
    • only one type of premium fare
    • no separate fares between stages or boarding points
  • Services on which the majority of seats can be reserved in advance of travel
  • Park and ride services are also not part of the statutory minimum scheme. If the local Council has excluded a park and ride service from the scheme, the service may not accept bus passes. Please contact the local Council where you are travelling for more information.

Concessionary Fares

Concessionary Fare fraud is:

  • giving false information or hiding information on purpose when applying for a bus pass
  • using the bus pass of another person – such as a friend/relative/deceased person.

If you think someone is committing concessionary fare fraud, it is important you report fraud to us.
