It’s an exciting time when you pass your driving test, especially if you’ve got a car. Your popularity can be raised within your friendship group, and you discover a new sense of freedom.
Unfortunately, though young adult drivers (aged 16-24) in Torbay have been identified as a high risk road user group, meaning that according to road casualty data (Vision Zero Casualty Reduction Strategy 2020-2030) they are involved in more road accidents and incidents than other road user groups.
We want all of Torbay’s young drivers and passengers to be safe on our roads.
As a minimum remember to:
- Keep within the speed limits
- Ensure all passengers wear seatbelts
- Avoid being distracted by mobile phone and other devices
- Never driving whilst under the influence of drink or drugs
