Creating a premises plan

You need submit a plan of your premises with your application. This should be clear and legible.   

What to include in your premises plan

The plan should show:

  • the boundary of the building, if relevant, and any external and internal walls of the building and, if different, the perimeter of the premises
  • premises entry and exit points
  • premises escape routes, if different from the entry and exit points
  • where premises are used for more than one licensable activity: the area within the premises used for each activity (including where any bars/alcohol distributing points and where alcohol will be stored or on display for sale)
  • fixed structures (including furniture) or similar objects temporarily in a fixed location (but not furniture) which may make it difficult for individuals to use exits or escape routes
  • where premises include a stage or raised area: the location and height of each stage or area relative to the floor
  • the location of any steps, stairs, escalators or lifts
  • the location of any room/s containing public conveniences
  • the location and type of any fire safety and any other safety equipment including, if applicable, marine safety equipment
  • the location of any kitchen on the premises.

You may include symbols on the plan and a key to illustrate the matters listed above.

How you can help your application

The following information is not compulsory. It will make it easier for us and the responsible authorities to understand your how you intend to operate the premises. To help your application, your plan can include:

  • the date the plan was created
  • the name and location of the premises
  • a location plan showing the site of the premises
  • the scale used on the plan
  • a continuous red line to define the proposed licensed area
  • emergency exit routes should not be marked or coloured in a way that suggests people can drink alcohol there
  • outline areas that will be used for specific purposes and define in the key. For example, children only allowed into one area, adult entertainment and showing of films.
