Find out about this training on Learning Disability and Autism

This training on Learning Disability and Autism is named after Oliver McGowan.

His tragic death highlighted the need for specific training for health and social care staff. How there must be training in place to understand of the needs of autistic people and people with a learning disability. To improve skills and knowledge in these situations.

The Health and Care Act 2022 introduced a new statutory requirement. This was that Regulated service providers must make sure all staff have Learning Disability and Autism trainingĀ appropriate to their role.

Part of this training includes delivery by experts with lived experience. Two of our Autism Ambassadors have completed their training. They and are now approved trainers. They play a pivotal role in rolling out this important training across Devon.
