Kevin, Pam, Helen, Jude and Lindsey met up to discuss what we want in this Carers Rep Report.
Since the last Meeting we have all attended the Carers Rights Day Event (18th Nov) to offer support to Carers.
We also had a ‘Meet the LDPB Carers Reps’ morning in November at Paignton Carers Centre; we didn’t have many carers come but it was lovely to meet those who did come.
We are looking at having an email address for carers to be able to link directly to the LDP Reps – update coming soon.
We talked about how FAB assessments can feel difficult – the process around them, the information given with them and what expenditures get taken into account. Jude highlighted that this is a theme that comes up from both Carers and for people with a Learning Disability. Jude has recommended that both the Ambassadors and Carer reps raise this at the next LDPB Board meeting for wider discussion and highlighting.
We talked again about the cost of running electric cars and that it is difficult to know where the charging points are. Is there a map or information about where all the charging points are in Torbay?
We talked about the cost for carers of going on the bus to accompany their cared for person. Jude said the LD Ambassadors had met with Dave Thomas and raised this.
It is good news that the Station Ticket Office consultation found that most people want these to stay open, since they are so important to the people who use them (including carers!).
Adam will be meeting with the carers from Torbay Family Carers soon on Jude’s behalf (Helen and Emma organising this) to give updates to family carers there.
