Non-judgemental support from youth justice and probation services
If you have a history of offending, are at risk of re-offending or criminal exploitation, we will support you in a non-judgemental way. Offending can seriously affect your life, including your education, employment, relationships, housing and mental health.
If you are under 18, Torbay Youth Justice Service (formerly YOT) can support you. We work with professionals such as social workers, personal advisors, police, education, probation and health staff to help reduce your risk of re-offending and support you through any criminal proceedings.
Specialist workers are available, including a family therapist, parenting worker, substance misuse worker and mental health worker. These roles are key to our planning, as most people who offend have unmet needs in these areas.
Your personal advisor will help you access the right services and support you through criminal proceedings. This includes attending court and understanding any conditions or restrictions set by the police or courts.
If you receive a probation requirement, probation staff will work with you to complete the actions set by the court. These may include unpaid work, courses, treatment or regular meetings. It is important to follow these actions, and we will support you to do so.

If you are serving a custodial sentence, your personal advisor will continue to support you. This includes planning for your release and helping with housing, health, emotional wellbeing, benefits and returning to education, training or employment.
