Creating a sex establishment premises plan

Find out what to include in a premises for a sex establishment.

You need submit a plan of your premises with your application. This should be clear and legible.   

What to include in your premises plan

The plan should show:

  1. The layout of the premises including, for example, stage, bars, cloakrooms, WCs, performance area, dressing rooms.
  2. The boundary of the premises outlined in red.
  3. The public areas outlined in blue.
  4. Outline of areas that will be used for specific purposes, for example, performance areas, reception, staff facilities
  5. Structures or objects (including furniture) which may obstruct people from using exits or escape routes.
  6. Location of points of access to and exit from the premises.
  7. Any parts used in common with other premises.
  8. Position of CCTV cameras.
  9. Where the premises includes a stage or raised area, the location and height of each stage or area relative to the floor.
  10. The location of any steps, stairs, elevators or lifts.
  11. The location of any public conveniences, including disabled WCs.
  12. The location and type of any fire safety and other safety equipment.
  13. The location of the kitchen (if applicable).
  14. The location of emergency exits.

How you can help your application

The following information is not compulsory. It will make it easier for us and the responsible authorities to understand your how you intend to operate the premises. To help your application, your plan can include:

  • the date the plan was created
  • the name and location of the premises
  • a location plan showing the site of the premises
  • the scale used on the plan
  • a continuous red line to define the proposed licensed area
  • emergency exit routes should not be marked or coloured in a way that suggests people can drink alcohol there
  • outline areas that will be used for specific purposes and define in the key
