Mental Health and stress at work

How to help with and manage stress and mental health at work

Poor mental health in the workplace has a direct impact on:

  • employees
  • businesses
  • the economy

Increasing numbers of workers are suffering from work-related stress, anxiety and depression. The HSE, in conjunction with Local Authorities, is targeting employers and their workers. We want to help them prevent work-related stress and support good mental health at work.

Working Minds is relevant to all businesses but is aimed at small to medium ones. It encourages employers and employees to use the five ‘R’ approach to:

  • make stress and mental health ROUTINE
  • REACH out to their colleagues
  • RECOGNISE the signs of stress
  • RESPOND to reduce the risk
  • REFLECT on how these experiences can be used to improve the workplace
