Right to reply

Find out about your right to reply following your inspection

There are safeguards to make sure that food businesses receive the correct score. If you are not happy with the score you can:

  • ask for a rescoring revisit as long as you have completed the necessary actions
  • appeal if you do not agree with the score
  • have a right of reply to highlight the actions you have taken since your visit

As the food business operator, you have a right to reply following your inspection.

You can:

  • detail work completed and improvements made
  • explain the circumstances at the time of the inspection

It is not for:

  • making complaints
  • criticising the scheme
  • criticising the inspecting officer

You must submit a right to reply form.

If you use the right to reply, it will appear on the website with your rating. The inspecting officer will review it and may edit it before it goes on the website. This would be to remove any offensive or defamatory remarks.
