Food poisoning is an illness caused by eating infected food. It is not usually serious and most people get better within a few days without treatment.

Suspected food poisoning

If you think you have food poisoning, visit your doctor as soon as you can. They may arrange some tests and will give you some advice. The only way to find out if you do have food poisoning is by giving a poo (stool) sample to your doctor. We won't usually investigate without this confirmation.
