We have had to change the way that some of our service operates to meet the guidelines set out by the government in response to the Coronavirus pandemic and to provide additional support for those affected.

It is important that you tell us about any changes which may affect your business rates so we can make sure the bill you receive is for the correct amount.

Things that you should tell us about:

  • You move in or out of business premises in Torbay
  • The use of your business changes
  • You no longer run the business or the business shuts down
  • You take on additional business premises
  • Any changes that may affect any relief you have been awarded
  • Any other change in circumstances which may affect the amount of your business rates

Supporting documents

Under our duty to collect Business Rates and protect the public purse, we may ask to see following supporting documentation before an account is created.

As well as a copy of your lease agreement we may request;

For individuals

  • Second contact address (other than ratepayers business address in Torbay)
  • Contact phone number
  • Copy of driving licence, a recent bank statement or utility bill

For companies

  • Contact phone number and email address of a director
  • Headed paper/email/invoice displaying  the company details
  • A recent bank statement or utility bill in the name of the company
