Report a dead animal

Report a wild or domestic dead animal, found on a road, footpath beach or other public space.

You can report a dead animal found on public land in Torbay. SWISCo removes dead animals for us. This helps keep our public spaces safe and clean.

Public land includes:

  • highways and pavements
  • public parks
  • beaches
  • council owned car parks
  • public open spaces
  • the grounds of public buildings

What happens after you report it

We assess the report and arrange safe removal.

If the animal is a dog or cat, we scan for a microchip. This helps us work with a local animal charity to identify and contact the owner.

If the report involves a bird, we take extra safety steps because there may be a risk of avian flu. We make a formal report when needed.

If the report involves a seal or other marine animal, we send the details to the Harbour Master and the Cetacean Strandings team. They make sure the correct marine checks and actions are taken.
