Thank you once again to Torbay residents for your patience due to the ongoing delays with waste and recycling collections.
Unfortunately, although we are in the process of recruiting more staff to join SWISCo including drivers and loaders, and they will hopefully be joining us soon, we are still currently experiencing severe staff shortages due to Covid.
This is continuing to have a knock-on effect on household waste and recycling collections and as a result we are still several days behind.
Please bear with us and continue to leave your waste and recycling outside your home at your usual collection point and we will collect it as soon as possible.
Please note that in some circumstances, and where collections have fallen most significantly behind, we will be co-mingling dry recycling in a waste vehicle and sorting later. None of it will be sent to landfill. In addition, sometimes food waste may be collected at a different time.
Please note that in some circumstances, and where collections have fallen most significantly behind, we will be collecting all waste and recycling in one vehicle. None of it will be sent to landfill.
To help our staff, please continue to sort your recycling boxes – a sorted box can be emptied up to ten times more quickly than one that has not been sorted properly – this will in turn mean your waste and recycling will be collected more quickly. You can check what goes in each box.
The good news is we do have more staff joining us soon and we are still recruiting to expand our workforce further. If you are looking for a new job and are interested in joining the team as either a driver or a loader please get in touch – find out more and apply for a job.
