Motorists and pedestrians are advised of upcoming road works in November 2021 across Torbay.

Road works are taking place on Kings Ash Road at the Cotehele Drive junction in Paignton, starting on 15 November 2021.

The works are to replace the traffic signal apparatus and to modify the traffic island. Due to take approximately four weeks to complete, the works will be carried out by SWISCo and Siemens, working on behalf of us.

The original signals are nearing the end of their serviceable life and in need of replacement to avoid any failures and congestion as a result of this. The apparatus being installed will be more energy efficient and intelligent than the equipment it replaces. Throughout the duration of the works the junction will need to be controlled using temporary traffic lights, this may result in delays at peak times.

26 November 2021

SWISCo will be undertaking major footway reconstruction work to take place in Happaway Road, Torquay from Halsteads road to Combe Road starting on 26 November 2021. Due to take approximately four weeks, the works will be carried out by SWISCo sub-contractor Devon Tarmarsters Ltd.

The works are to improve the local footpath connections to local amenities and bus stops and improve the safety of the footpath by removing trip hazards.

Residents living in the affected area will receive letters with full details of the work and pre-warning signs will be placed around the area. Parking restrictions will be in place throughout the works with the majority of restrictions being in front of a green where there are no houses or frontages.

Councillor Mike Morey, Cabinet Member of Infrastructure, Environment and Culture for Torbay Council said: ‘We recognise these works may cause some disruption to residents, and we thank you in advance for your patience whilst these works are carried out. The new traffic light apparatus being installed will be beneficial to the road users of Torbay and help to improve efficiency at the junction of Cotehele Drive on Kings Ash Road. The footpath reconstruction work taking place on Happaway road will provide a safer route for pedestrians to access local amenities’
