The roadworks that were due to start on 9 November on Teignmouth Road have been delayed until early December.
The cats eyes and centre white lines were due to be renewed over the next few days to improve safety along this stretch of road. This work has now been delayed until early December.
When the work does get underway, Teignmouth Road will be closed to through traffic, although vehicle access to properties will be maintained.
The works will now be carried out over 5 nights in early December. Exact dates will be confirmed. During this time there will be no through route to or from Teignmouth via the A379. A diversion around Newton Abbot will be in place. Depending on the weather conditions at the time, it is hoped that these works can be completed over a shorter time-frame.
Councillor Mike Morey, Cabinet Member for Infrastructure, Environment and Culture for Torbay Council, said: “Due to unforeseen circumstances we are having to delay these roadworks at this time. However as part of our continuous commitment to structural maintenance and road safety across the Bay, these works are necessary and will be carried out soon.”
