Six times world snooker champion Ray Reardon is once again supporting Torbay Council’s Older Drivers Information Day.
The free drop in event is being held at The Livermead House Hotel, from 10am until 3pm on Thursday 13 October 2016.
"It is important to recognise the effects advancing age has on each of us," said Ray, who dominated snooker in the 1970s and who first supported the council's road safety initiative in 2010.
Bay resident Ray explained: "Eyesight and hearing can deteriorate and there is a general slowing down of our reaction times.
"That's why it is important to take sensible measures to ensure that we drivers remain as safe as possible on the roads, for our own sake and for the sake of other road users and pedestrians.
"The Older Drivers Information Day is an excellent road safety initiative for older drivers, and I would strongly urge people to come along to The Livermead House Hotel between 10am and 3pm on 13 October, when I look forward once again to lending my support."
Executive Lead for Community Services, Councillor Robert Excell, said: "We are extremely grateful to Ray for his enthusiastic and wholehearted support for this event, which plays such an important role in helping people stay safe on our roads.
"We also appreciate the help given by all those organisations that make the Older Drivers Information Day such a success."
"Our Older Drivers Information event is becoming increasingly popular every year as more and more of our older drivers realise the importance and benefits of keeping themselves and their vehicles in the best possible condition.
"We would encourage all of our senior drivers to come along to this event and see how to improve their own and their vehicles health as well as updating their skills."
Representatives from Devon and Cornwall Police and Advanced Driving Instructors are among those who will be on hand at the event to provide hints, tips and presentations. Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service will provide free reaction tests and ATS Euromaster will offer free tyre advice and tyre checks.
