Torbay Council's Cabinet support a short film made by the Doves Group

Torbay Council’s Cabinet is supporting a group of young people who have recently made a short film in conjunction with the Children’s Society.

On Tuesday 17 September, Torbay Council’s Cabinet will be supporting a group of young people who have recently made a short film in conjunction with the Children’s Society.

The Doves Group, formed by young people who have a disability or need for extra support, comes together once a fortnight to socialise. The group has made a film to highlight the issues of loneliness and social isolation faced by young people in the Bay, especially those with a disability and extra needs.

Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, Cllr Cordelia Law, said: “I am extremely honoured that the Doves Group and Children's Society have chosen our Cabinet meeting for the national launch of this film and project. Two of the young people, in conjunction with the Children’s Society, were recently invited up to London to discuss the film and issue at a national level. The group has also been nominated in the Community Group category of Breeze FM’s Local Heroes Awards for the film.”
