Operation Brighter Bay is bringing visible improvements closer to home, with a renewed focus on residential streets and neighbourhoods across Torbay following feedback from residents.

Now entering its third year, the initiative delivered by the council and SWISCo has seen an increased investment in the places where people live, alongside continued work in parks, beaches, town centres and public spaces.

Launched to improve the appearance of communities across the Bay and respond to the issues that matter most to residents, Operation Brighter Bay has seen teams working year-round to keep streets cleaner, improve green spaces and maintain the public areas people use every day.

The renewed focus reflects feedback from residents who said that while improvements to seafronts, parks and town centres were important, they also wanted to see visible investment in the streets and neighbourhoods where they live every day. In response, this year's programme builds on previous successes while placing a greater emphasis on residential communities across Torbay.

In recent months, teams have carried out targeted weed removal across residential streets, repaired highways, removed graffiti, maintained parks and gardens, enhanced street cleaning, and undertaken grass cutting and verge maintenance throughout the Bay. New specialist graffiti removal equipment has also been introduced to help tackle an issue frequently raised by residents.

SWISCo maintains more than 4.3 million square metres of grassed areas and almost 564,000 square metres of highway verges across Torbay, helping to keep communities clean, green and welcoming for residents and visitors. Operation Brighter Bay highlights the extensive range of work carried out every day by Torbay Council and SWISCo to improve neighbourhoods, parks, beaches and public spaces across the Bay.

Operation Brighter Bay has also been supported by a series of videos highlighting the work being carried out across Torbay. Recent films have showcased weed management, specialist hot washing, and graffiti removal, helping residents better understand how improvements are being delivered in communities across the Bay.

To support this latest phase of the campaign, a new video bringing together footage from across Operation Brighter Bay will be shared on Torbay Council's social media channels following the publication of this release.

As Operation Brighter Bay continues throughout the year, residents can expect to see ongoing improvements in neighbourhoods, parks, beaches and public spaces across Torbay.
