People in Torbay are being invited to share their views on a new Plan that will help shape the future of tourism in Torbay.

The refreshed Destination Management Plan (DMP) sets out a long-term vision to help Torbay grow as the UK's premier coastal destination. It focuses on supporting local businesses, improving visitor experiences and making sure tourism benefits both residents and the wider community.

The new Plan replaces the current 2022–2030 Destination Management Plan, which has played a key role in supporting Torbay’s tourism sector and recovery following Covid-19. However, it now requires updating to reflect the changing economic landscape and the evolving challenges and opportunities facing the area.

The draft Plan covers the period 2026–2036 and has been developed following months of engagement with local businesses and industry stakeholders across Torbay’s tourism and hospitality sector. It puts a stronger focus on working together and sets out clear priorities for future investment and development.

To help deliver the Plan, a new group called the Visitor Economy Cluster (VEC) is being proposed. This will bring together businesses and organisations to work together and support the local visitor economy. The Chair of the VEC, who is yet to be decided, will also represent tourism interests in wider decision-making groups, including the Torbay Place Leadership Board and the Devon and Torbay Business Advisory Group, to help ensure the sector’s needs are considered.

We are encouraging residents and local businesses to read the draft Destination Management Plan and share their feedback. Their views will help shape the final version before it is officially approved.
