We have today published our full proposal for Local Government Reorganisation (LGR), marking a significant step forward in the process to explore how local services could be delivered in Torbay. The proposal is now available to view on our website and forms part of the formal papers for the upcoming Cabinet and Full Council meetings taking place next week.

Our proposal outlines the rationale, benefits, and potential implications of reorganising local government structures in Torbay. It reflects extensive analysis, engagement with stakeholders, and consideration of how best to meet the needs of residents, businesses, and communities across the Bay.

The Cabinet will consider the full proposal at its meeting on:

• Tuesday 18 November

A decision will be made at the Full Council meeting on:

• Thursday 20 November

Both meetings are open to the public and will be broadcast live via our official YouTube channel, ensuring full transparency and accessibility for all. Residents are invited to attend the meetings to hear the debate and discussions.

Torbay has a clear public mandate to retain its existing boundaries, which underpin both our nationally significant Integrated Care Organisation and our Good-rated Children’s Services. Having worked closely with all council leaders across Devon, I know that successful reorganisation must protect what works, amplify local voices, and deliver better outcomes for residents.
