People who live in Torbay can now get a digital My Bay card to keep on their phone.

It is the latest initiative for the popular money-saving scheme which already has more than 2,000 members.

Residents aged 16 and over who live in Torbay can now apply to join the scheme for 12 months from January 2026.

You can choose a physical card as before, but now have the option of a digital card to save in their smartphone wallet.

The My Bay resident card gives access to exclusive offers at more than 140 businesses across Torbay.

There are My Bay deals on food and drink, from seafront ice creams to fish and chips and restaurant meals.

They include activities from swimming and climbing to walking tours and rib rides, plus visits to the cinema and theatre.

There are offers with health and wellbeing therapists and at a wide range of shops from jewellery to gifts, fashion, and arts and crafts.

My Bay also has deals on professional services, including for the home, DIY and building.

All the offers, deals and discounts are listed on the My Bay section of our website.

The My Bay scheme was launched in January 2025 to support the local economy and help people's money go further.

Other My Bay benefits:

A parking permit for an extra hour free in most off-street pay-and-display car parks in Torbay when you buy a ticket for an hour or more with cash or card.

33 free visits to public toilets in Torbay - worth £10.

Members could save an estimated £45 to £75 per person a year (based on use of the toilets offer, 10 car park visits and deals and discounts with local businesses).

There's now a limited sign-up window to join My Bay and enjoy the scheme benefits for 12 months from 1 January.

Cllr David Thomas, Leader of Torbay Council, said: "I'm delighted that we can now offer the choice of a digital card to My Bay members. It's a great addition to the scheme which will make the deals even more accessible when people are out and about in the Bay.

"We are determined to do all we can to help Torbay thrive. My Bay was set up to help people's money go further while spending with local businesses. We'd love to see more people joining the scheme and make the most of our beautiful Bay all year round."

Applications to join My Bay can be made now online via the Torbay Council website or a My Torbay account.

The current application period closes at midday on Monday 24 November 2025.

Proof of residence is needed and there is a list of acceptable documents on the website.

To apply for a My Bay parking permit, you must show a copy of both your driving licence and V5 vehicle registration document, Motability Agreement or Leasing Agreement. These will also count as proof of residence for the resident card.

If you cannot go online, paper application forms are available at the libraries in Torquay, Paignton and Brixham.

You can apply in person at the libraries, but you must bring your proof of residence and vehicle registration to apply.

After an application is approved and a £10 fee paid to cover admin costs, the card and permit will be posted out ready to start using from 1 January 2026 for 12 months.

The £10 sign-up fee has been waived for unpaid Carers registered with Torbay Carers, as a thank-you for the work that they do.

Help and information are available from the Customer Services team on 01803 207900.

Terms and conditions apply to the scheme and full details are on the My Bay section of our website.
