Lower Union Lane car park will be changing from ‘pay on exit’ to ‘pay and display’ from Monday 29 September.

From this date, car park users will have the flexibility to pay for parking using the RingGo app or the machines in the car park when they arrive.

The change to pay and display is designed to make the car park a more convenient and accessible option for visitors to the town centre.

It will be particularly beneficial to residents with a car park permit, a My Bay parking permit, or a disabled parking permit, who will be able to use them in Lower Union Lane car park from this date.

Updated signage will be installed in the car park from Monday 22 September. We would advise that all visitors read the new signs for further information.

Councillor Adam Billings, Torbay Council's Cabinet Member for Pride in Place and Parking, said:

“We’re committed to improving our services and delivering change that has a positive impact on our residents and local businesses.

“The change to Lower Union Lane car park will make it a more attractive and accessible parking option in Torquay and help to encourage more visitors to the town centre.”

The car park will be open between 7am and midnight and there will be CCTV and lifts in operation. The lifts will operate between 7am and 7pm only.

The car park will also continue to be subject to regular cleaning and checks to ensure it remains welcoming and well used. Visitors can report any issues using the contact information on the boards near the pay and display machines.

We are aware of existing graffiti in the car park. Work to remove this is expected to begin on Saturday 27 September, ahead of the changes coming into place.
