Bookings are now open for parents to reserve a place for their child on one of our summer holiday clubs, Healthy Holidays.

School-aged children on benefits-related free school meals and children who are electively home educated are eligible.

There are also some paid activities for children who are not eligible for the free sessions.

There are clubs running throughout the holidays at locations across Torquay, Paignton and Brixham including two which are dedicated to specialist special educational needs and disabilities provision (SEND).

This year’s providers are:

  • Achieve4All
  • Imagine Torbay Multicultural Group
  • Kinetic Sports Group
  • Play Torbay
  • Plymouth Argyle
  • Pro Coaching
  • Shear Soccer
  • Sporty Stars
  • Turning Heads (specialist SEND provision)
  • Sound Communities
  • Taleblazers (specialist SEND provision)

The clubs are a chance for kids to stay active, learn new skills and make new friends.

All who are attending receive a nutritious meal.

Councillor Nick Bye, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said: “School holidays can be an expensive time for parents which is why this scheme is so popular with families.

“The sessions ensure children are kept entertained – activities including everything from sport, music, cooking and gardening so there’s something for everyone.

“They’re also an opportunity for young people to mix with others of a similar age, and they receive a meal.

“There are also sessions for children with special educational needs and disabilities, so no one misses out.”

Healthy Holidays is part of the Department for Education’s Holiday Activities and Food programme, which provides healthy meals, enriching activities and free childcare places to children from low-income families, benefiting their health, wellbeing and learning.
