The OFSTED / Care Quality Commission (CQC) report into the Torbay Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) local area partnership has been published today following an inspection carried out in March 2025.
The report identifies aspects of the provision where we are performing well and areas for improvement.
Many aspects of our improvement work are already underway, and we have robust plans in place to continue to build on the improvement work we have done to date.
We are committed to addressing these challenges locally, but meaningful and lasting improvements require systemic reform at the national level.
What we are doing well
- Our early years support through our Family Hubs and the Healthy Child programme
- The work of our Mental Health in Schools team
- The strength of our neurodiversity support programme – co-produced with families and health professionals
- Our key worker service for young people with autism and learning difficulties
- Our school nursing teams
We are committed to ongoing improvement across all SEND provision and will continue to work with parents, carers and practitioners to develop and strengthen it.
Our priority remains the wellbeing and success of our children and young people.
