The English Riviera Airshow has once again proven to be a significant boost to the local economy, bringing in an estimated £5 million.
English Riviera Airshow organisers are thrilled to announce the resounding success of this year’s event. The event which took place between 30 May and 1 June, attracted visitors from across the UK, local area and nearby towns and cities, showcasing the English Riviera as a premier destination for both aviation enthusiasts and families alike.
Organisers extend a heartfelt thanks to sponsors, event partners, volunteers, local businesses and everyone who contributed to make the 2025 Airshow an unforgettable experience.
The festivities took off on Friday night with a spectacular opening programme, featuring night flying, live music and a dazzling fireworks display. An impressive crowd of 20,000 people flocked to Paignton to enjoy the opening night entertainment.
Saturday saw even greater numbers, with approximately 40,000 people gathering in Paignton to enjoy the main event. Thousands more took advantage of the various viewing points around the bay, ensuring that everyone has a chance to witness the breath-taking aerial displays.
The Airshow featured amazing flying displays from the best RAF teams, including the iconic Red Arrows and the RAF Typhoon Display Teams. On the ground, the event village was packed with activities, food stalls, and entertainment, creating a vibrant atmosphere that was enjoyed by all.
Cllr Jackie Thomas, Cabinet Member for Tourism, Culture & Events and Corporate Services at Torbay Council, said; “We are incredibly grateful for the support and dedication of our sponsors, event partners, and volunteers. Without their support and contributions, we would not be able to keep bringing you this event.
“The sentiment and support we have seen and heard from those that attended this year’s Airshow is truly appreciated.
“Our aim is to keeping growing this event year on year and we hope to be able to announce soon dates for the 2026 English Riviera Airshow, which will mark 10-years of this phenomenal event.”
Carolyn Custerson, Chief Executive Officer, English Riviera BID Company said; “The value of this event to the English Riviera visitor economy can never be underestimated. For every pound invested, we see around a fifteen-pound return, equating to around £5 million for the area in just one weekend.
“We’re seeing more and more people coming into the area for the Airshow weekend. Early indications from accommodation providers are that many have been at full capacity – a brilliant start to the 2025 holiday season after a challenging couple of years.
“By investing in the Airshow and other seasonal events, we can keep tourism businesses and services open all year round. This keeps local people in employment, demonstrating that our resort is not just open for the summer.”
