Torbay Lottery Jackpot Winner!
The Torbay Lottery had a jackpot winner this month, with an incredible £25,000 being won!
Councillor David Thomas, Leader of Torbay Council, joined Colin Reeves, Chairman of the Paignton (Torbay) Rifle & Pistol Rifle Club, and Phil Wright, from Gatherwell, to present a £25,000 cheque at Torquay Town Hall on Tuesday morning.
The jackpot winner is a supporter of the Paignton Rifle & Pistol Club. Paignton Rifle & Pistol Club is one of the local good causes who have joined the Torbay Lottery. Colin Reeves said:
“Since joining the Torbay Lottery, our club has received nearly £2,500 from ticket sales. This has been invaluable in subsidising costs and purchasing equipment for our members. This support encourages participation in our sport and ensures county association competitions are free to all members."
"The Torbay Lottery is an excellent scheme, and we hope this jackpot win inspires more to join.”
Councillor Jackie Thomas, Cabinet Member for Tourism, Events & Culture and Corporate Services said:
"I would like to say a huge congratulations to the winner for being the first person to win the jackpot on the Torbay Lottery! We hope you will enjoy spending the money and have a very Merry Christmas."
"Torbay Lottery has been running for 7 years and it is fantastic time to have a £25,000 jackpot winner! We are very proud of how our lottery has been helping our local communities to raise extra funding and what it has achieved since it began in 2017."
"We are always looking for new suppliers to help our local groups to raise much needed money as well as the chance of winning prizes including the £25,000 jackpot. We would like more local groups to join the lottery. They benefit from monthly income generated through ticket sales along with the Small Grants Fund, which opens at the start of each year, for local groups to bid for up to £2,000 towards the cost of specific items. To sign up visit www.torbaylottery.co.uk.”
The Torbay Lottery is a council initiative, empowering local groups to generate vital funds in a fun and effective way, enabling players to support the causes they care about. There is no cost to becoming a Torbay Lottery good cause and they receive 50p from every ticket sold for their cause.
In total, 148 causes are currently signed up, and the Torbay Lottery has raised over £243,800 which has gone directly to support our local groups.
There are currently 569 players signed up to it and 1066 tickets in play.
Draws take place every Saturday night. To be in with a chance to scoop up to £25,000, go to www.torbaylottery.co.uk and sign up today. Several ticket holders have won £2,000 and we have now had our first £25,000 jackpot winner. Players must be 18+, always play responsibly.
