Great news for residents, visitors, and businesses in Torbay. For the sixth consecutive year, we are offering our ‘Pay for an hour, stay for the day’ parking promotion. The offer will run from Friday 29 November 2024 to Thursday 2 January 2025 in selected Torbay Council car parks.
The promotion allows you to enjoy the best of our town centres during the festive period. You and your family can fully explore what the main towns and surrounding areas have to offer – without worrying that your parking will expire. The offer will run alongside the dates for the Bay of Lights illumination trail, allowing you to explore this magical attraction throughout the season.
For retail and leisure, each of the main town centres offer something different. From the cobbled streets lined with independent shops in Brixham; Torbay Road in Paignton, which links to Victoria Street, Palace Avenue and Winner Street; to Union Street in Torquay, which leads to Fleet Walk and the harbourside or Torre. There’s something for everyone to enjoy, with plenty of shops, leisure activities, art galleries, salons, and cuisines to sample.
Cllr Adam Billings, Cabinet Member for Pride in Place, Culture & Events and Parking, said; “This is the sixth consecutive year we’ve offered reduced price parking to allow people to make the most of Torbay over the festive season. The offer is always popular, allowing people to spend more time visiting our towns and attractions including this years’ Bay of Lights trail.
“I’m sure both retail and leisure visitors will welcome the opportunity to spend more time enjoying the best of Torbay over the season.”
Pay for an hour, stay for the day
The offer will run from 29 November to 2 January (inclusive) at the following car parks:
Torquay – Lower Union Lane, Union Square (closes at 7pm) and Harbour
Paignton – Victoria multi-storey and Hyde Road (temporary car park)
Brixham – Central (up to the maximum stay), Freshwater and Oxen Cove
The fee will cover parking from when you arrive until midnight the same day (excluding Union Square which closes at 7pm, and Brixham Central which limits parking time to a maximum of three hours between 7am and 3pm).
Fees are in line with zone charges.
For Lower Union Lane, payment should be on entry and not when leaving the car park.
Free on-street parking in Torquay and Paignton
The usual free street parking will still apply in Torquay and Paignton on Sundays in December on the following roads:
Torquay – Magdalene Road, Lymington Road, Castle Road, Union Street, Babbacombe Road
Paignton – Palace Avenue
Why isn’t the offer available in all car parks?
In secondary shopping areas such as Torre, St Marychurch, Palace Avenue, Winner Street etc, there is generally free parking close by.
Fleet Walk car park is not managed by us.
