Harbour (Terrace) car park reopens from 7am on Thursday 14 March, ready to support businesses for Easter.
From 7am on Thursday 14 March, more than 300 spaces will be available to motorists, 24-hours a day, 7-days a week, as Harbour car park fully reopens.
After operating with limited spaces during building works for the new Harbour View Hotel, the car park once again provides spaces for harbourside visitors, with access back to being via the Torwood Street / Terrace junction.
As part of the redevelopment, the car park will have a lift that will be accessible from all levels, allowing shoppers and visitors to get to street level much easier than before.
Cllr Adam Billings, Cabinet Member for Pride in Place and Parking for Torbay Council, said; “The reopening of this car park is great news for harbourside businesses and visitors, especially with the Easter holiday just a couple of weeks away.
“There are some minor finishing works that still need to be completed over the coming weeks, but from 7am on Thursday 14 March, the car park is ready for use.
“Thank you to the community for being patient during the redevelopment works.”
With the reopening on Thursday 14 March, the temporary entrance on Museum Road will be closed with access to Harbour car park only being available via The Terrace entrance.
Harbour View Hotel is due to be open for the 2024 summer season. Final finishing touches are being made before the doors are officially opened to guests.
Navigating the area during the harbourside improvement works:
- All businesses and car parks are open as usual.
- If travelling from the sea front / Paignton direction, use Shedden Hill or Fleet Walk car parks.
- If travelling from Babbacombe, use Harbour, Beacon Quay or Meadfoot Road car parks.
- Beat the queues, if you can, park a bit further away and walk in, or travel by bus.
- If you just use the area to get from one end of the town to the other, to make your journey quicker, consider taking an alternative route.
