Torbay Council seek interested parties to lead on the delivery of a Christmas Market

We are seeking Expression of Interest applications from organisations or individuals who would be interested in leading on the delivery of a Christmas Market in Torquay, throughout December.

We are seeking Expression of Interest applications from organisations or individuals who would be interested in leading on the delivery of a Christmas Market in Torquay, throughout December.

The intention is for an organisation to provide a comprehensive 'do everything' service, from securing and managing local traders, through to the construction and de-rig of the stalls, securing licences and all matters relating to public safety.

Torquay already has a well-established street and craft market providing small local businesses with the opportunity to sell food and handmade gifts.

The Christmas Market, which would be a stand-alone event, would complement and benefit from thousands of visitors who enjoy the Bay of Lights Illumination Trail which returns for a second year this December. It is hoped that the market will primarily include local stalls with local craft and artisan products which be bought as seasonal gifts.

Under proposals, the market would start at the end of November and last the Christmas period. The preferred location would be at the Banjo area of Princess Gardens on Torquay seafront, but other locations may be considered.

Our Events Strategy sets out working with commercial event organisers to bring high quality events to the area, especially during the shoulder months to support the vision of the English Riviera being a premier resort in the UK.

The Expression of Interest (EOI) application deadline is 12pm on Friday 15 September 2023.
