Residents, businesses, community groups and organisations are invited to attend Torbay Council’s fourth Community Conference which is taking place on Monday 17 October 2022.
The Conference, which will be held at the Riviera International Centre in Torquay, is an opportunity for everyone to come together to celebrate and build on the successes in Torbay. It is also a chance to look at what challenges, like the current cost of living crisis and increased council budget pressures, we are facing now and in the future.
The Conference will start at 7 pm and will include presentations from the Leader and Deputy Leader of Torbay Council. Local community groups will also be presenting on their achievements on how together with the Council they are providing opportunities and supporting those living in the Bay.
There will also be an opportunity to take part in a question and answer session with senior councillors and officers.
Councillor Steve Darling, Leader of Torbay Council, said: “As we have done over the past three years, we want to again bring everyone together so we can share our joint successes in helping Torbay to thrive. This will also give us an opportunity to talk about how we face our current challenges together.
“This Conference is open to everyone to attend, and I encourage you, whether as a resident or part of a local voluntary or community group, to register and come along and take part. We really do want to hear your feedback on what has worked well and where we can improve.”
Councillor Darren Cowell, Deputy Leader of Torbay Council, said: “When we held our first conference in 2019, we wanted to have better on-going conversations with our residents and communities. We wanted to empower you, give you more influence on what we do and how we do it. Following that first event we developed our Community Engagement and Empowerment Strategy, and this year’s conference will give us an opportunity to reflect on this, hear from you on what worked well and how and where we can be better.”
Torbay Council’s Community Conference will be taking place on Monday 17 October in The Forum at the Riviera International Centre. Registration opens from 6.30 pm where those attending will have the chance to talk to councillors and officers and see some of the work taking place. The Conference starts at 7 pm and finishes at 9 pm.
Spaces are limited and you will need to register on Eventbrite to secure your place.
