Work gets underway this week to remove the sunken yacht ‘Rendezvous’ from Torquay Harbour.
Since the incident on Saturday 28 May, Tor Bay Harbour Authority have been working with MDL and the appointed wreck removal company on the salvage operation.
All required vessels and equipment are expected to arrive this evening.
Divers have been in the water today to make the final preparations for the salvage operation to begin.
It is anticipated that the removal of the remaining fuel and the lifting of the vessel will commence on Tuesday 28 June. Subject to weather and unforeseen circumstances the lift will be completed by Thursday 30 June.
Princess Pier remains closed and only essential personnel will be granted access.
Once the salvage operation has been safely completed, repairs to Princess Pier will begin. Once safe to do so, Princess Pier will reopen to the public.
All salvage works are weather dependent and are therefore subject to change.
All media enquiries and requests for interviews in relation to this matter should be directed to communications@torbay.gov.uk and not Tor Bay Harbour Authority.
