Upcoming roadworks in Meadfoot

On Monday 6 June 2022 resurfacing of Meadfoot Sea Road and the footpaths will be taking place.

For the works to take place Meadfoot Sea Road will be closed to vehicles only, from Hesketh Road to Ilsham Marine Drive for eight days. There will be full pedestrian access throughout the works.

The closure will start on Monday 6 June 2022 for five days. It will then be taken down for the weekend on the 11 and 12 June 2022. The closure will then be reinstated on Monday 13 June for a period of three days.

A diversion will be in place for road users and will take you along Babbacombe Road and through Wellswood and vice versa if travelling in the other direction.

Access to the businesses in the area will be open as normal, so please continue to show support for your local businesses. The Osbourne will still be accessible with any disruptions taking place for a very short period.

We have committed to spend in excess of £1.3 Million over the next financial year to continually improve the roads and infrastructure across the Bay.

This scheme will be carried out by SWISCo contractor SWH Ltd on our behalf.

Councilor Mike Morey, Cabinet member of Infrastructure, Environment and Culture for Torbay said; “If you are planning to visit the Meadfoot area between the 6 and 15 June please take this road closure into consideration when planning your journey.

“We do not take the decision to close roads lightly and we apologise for any inconvenience and disruption this may cause. The resurfacing of the road and footpath will go towards improving the quality of roads across Torbay and provide a brand-new surface for this popular road.”
