From today, Tuesday 22 March 2022, the provision to register deaths by telephone will no longer be permitted by law. Registration will need to be conducted in person by appointment.
All registration appointments will be held at Paignton Library and Information Centre, Great Western Road, Paignton, TQ4 5AG.

In order for the death registration to take place a registered medical practitioner is required to issue a medical certificate cause of death (MCCD). Once this certificate is completed, it will be scanned to the registrar's office, this document will need to have been received in order for the registration to take place.
Please be mindful that certification can sometimes be delayed, it is advisable to email our office registrationdeaths@torbay.gov.uk or call us on 01803 207130 to confirm the certificate has been received.
