We have received a number of emails in relation to flags across Torbay. We appreciate the time taken to contact us and understand this is an important issue for our residents and visitors. However, given the volume of enquiries we have received, we are not able to respond individually.

Although there are many flagpoles across the council's estate, we fly the Union Flag at the Town Hall, Torquay. This enables us to follow royal and local protocols for occasions when a Union Flag should be lowered to half mast, such as the death or funeral of a member of the Royal Family or a past Mayor.

Many of our flag poles do not have halyards that would allow a flag to be easily lowered to half-mast.
