As lockdown measures continue to be relaxed, we have seen a marked increase of vehicular traffic on our highways as people start to return to work and school.
The restrictions around limited waiting and residential parking bays were eased as part of our response to coronavirus, but from Monday 8 June all parking restrictions in Torbay will once again be enforced.
Councillor Mike Morey, Cabinet Member for Environment, Infrastructure and Culture, Torbay Council said “As more and more people start to return to work or carry out the school run, our roads are once again becoming busier and busier. In light of this, we will again start to proactively enforce parking restrictions and ask vehicular road users to adhere to the parking signs displayed to prevent being issued with a ticket”.
NHS workers and volunteers will continue to get free parking in council operated parking areas, providing the required official paperwork is clearly displayed on vehicle dashboards. This scheme only applies if these workers are on duty, and only to those working or volunteering within health and social care – it does not apply to all key workers. Further information on this scheme can be found on our website.
Anyone using parking facilities across Torbay are reminded to adhere to strict social distancing guidelines, and where possible ensure you are two metres away from anyone outside of your household. For more information on staying safe outside your home visit the GOV.UK website.
