Torbay Council’s Public Health Team is supporting this year’s No Smoking Day on Wednesday 9 March 2016.
Stopping smoking has numerous health benefits ranging from emotional happiness to a healthier respiratory system. The Public Health Team want smokers to finally make the move to quit for good and to see the positive impact it will have on their lives and the lives of the people who surround them.
Recent studies have shown how 62% of ex-smokers are happier since quitting, so the Public Health Team want residents to use No Smoking Day to help kick the habit once and for good.
Deputy Mayor and Executive Lead for Health and Wellbeing and Corporate Services, Councillor Derek Mills, said: “Health issues related to smoking are well reported, however these new insights into mental health are positive motivators to smokers to make the choice to become healthier and happier by quitting.”
Deciding to make the move from smoking can be incredibly difficult but there are local services available to support and help you.
