Torbay Council supports Brixham Town Square revamp

Torbay Council has provided £2,000 of funding to enable Pride in Brixham to carry out a clean-up and painting project in Brixham Town Square.

Torbay Council has provided £2,000 of funding to enable Pride in Brixham to carry out a clean-up and painting project in Brixham Town Square.

Pride in Brixham, a team of willing volunteers, will start the project at the beginning of March. The focus is to restore Brixham Town Square by cleaning the bus shelter, jet washing the area, and repairing and repainting the benches, railings and bollards.

Stagecoach Opens in a new window, who provides bus services from the Town Square, has also contributed £1,000 towards the works. The combined monies are being used to fund the provision of paint, wood for the benches and coping stones for the surrounding walls.

Torbay’s Mayor Gordon Oliver said: “Working with the community to restore areas within Torbay is essential so that we can continue to be proud of what we have to offer. With reductions in budgets, it is projects like this that help keep our unique coastal towns a beautiful location for businesses, residents and visitors.”

Graham Bailey, Commercial Manager for Stagecoach South West, added “We’re delighted to be able to help the Pride in Brixham volunteers restore Brixham Town Square and look forward to seeing our buses stop at the newly spruced up bus shelter.”
