Apple Day returns to Cockington Court in Torquay on Sunday 15 October between 11am and 4pm with free entry to the public.
The annual event will have a wide range of activities to entertain the whole family including arts and crafts; live music by Chloe Anne Marie, Samantha Montini and Rod Scott; an apple-inspired baking competition; church service; and over 40 market stalls selling food, drinks and crafts. The on-site Seven Dials Café will also be serving hot and cold food and drink all day.
There will also be some new additions to this year’s event, including Lego and crafts workshops, face painting by award-winning face painter Bex FX Body art, and hair braiding.
A traditional apple press on the front lawn will be the star attraction with demonstrators turning apples into juice and describing how to transform the juice into delicious homemade scrumpy. Visitors are welcome to use apples gathered from Cockington Court’s own orchard or can bring their own apples for pressing, for a small donation.
Those wanting to take part in the popular ‘Taste Off’ baking competition should bring along their baked apple creations at 11am for judging. All apple-inspired baking is welcome including cakes, jams and tray bakes.
Alongside Apple Day activities, resident Cockington Court makers will be showcasing their creative skills in their studios, providing visitors with the opportunity to learn about their craft and purchase their creations.
Visitors can also explore the free, Space-themed Sculpture Trail which runs until the end of October. The trail features 29 diverse sculptures located around the Manor House and grounds.
