We have had to change the way that some of our service operates to meet the guidelines set out by the government in response to the Coronavirus pandemic.
A commitment ceremony is a formal way for couples who cannot or choose not to marry or form a civil partnership. Unlike a marriage or civil partnership this ceremony has no legal status.
You can personalise your ceremony by including readings and music. You can include relatives and friends in the ceremony, have personal vows of commitment or give rings to each other.
Wherever the ceremony is held it will be conducted by staff from the local Register Office. You should contact the venue first to make sure that the date you want is available and you are happy with their costs.
Once you have confirmed details with the venue you need to book the registrar to conduct the ceremony. If you are holding the ceremony in Torbay you should complete the below form and a non refundable deposit will be required.
You will receive a commemorative certificate to mark the occasion.
A commitment ceremony usually lasts between 15 and 30 minutes depending on the number of options and the readings chosen.
A £90 deposit is required at the time of booking.
