Minutes:

The minutes of the meeting of The Oldway Mansion and Grounds Steering Group (Working Party) held on 12 February 2024 were confirmed as an accurate record.

Latest update for Oldway

Minutes:

The Working Party received an update on the latest position for Oldway from the Director of Pride and Place regarding future applications for grant funding.  Expressions of interest process would be starting this month and a number of interested parties had already been in contact. 

 

Meetings were being scheduled with potential funders for the upcoming months including National Heritage Lottery Fund and Arts Council to discuss future funding bids. 

 

David Blanchard provided an update on the current situation with the maintenance works required for the Mansion.  The repairs to the Ballroom roof were estimated to be in the region of £20,000.  A meeting was due to be held in the near future with Planning colleagues and Historic England to discuss dry rot investigations.

Minutes:

Peter Welsby from the Oldway Gardens Group provided an update on recent activities and works completed within the Gardens.  An Easter egg hunt took place during the Easter holidays which was successful.  Works had been completed on the path leading to Oldway Primary School.  Thanks were given to Councillors Chris Lewis and Billings along with SWISCo staff for their help.   

 

Iris Butler from the Friends of Oldway provided an update on the work of the Group.  Kathy Hughes was no longer involved with the café as she had relocated from the area and the café would remain closed.  The equipment from the café was being donated to various charity groups.  The funds raised from the café were being held within the Friends of Oldway bank account for future use. 

 

The Chairman, Councillor Chris Lewis, asked for his thanks to be recorded on behalf of the Working Party to Kathy Hughes and all the volunteers for all their previous hard work carried out in the café.
